Community Youth Worker

Job Duties:

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs is seeking applications for the position of Community Youth Worker in Oliver & Osoyoos.  Create and facilitate a Youth and Community Advisory Committees in Osoyoos
 Ensure Agency Policies and Procedures, program standards, risk management requirements and general facility safety standards are met and followed by all at all times.

Qualifications:

Education and Knowledge

Community Kitchen Volunteer

• Volunteer will be responsible to perform the following tasks alongside OBGC staff:

• Receive and track youth participation fees for program / track alternative youth payment options and responsibilities
• Search for recipes
• Compile ingredients required and make grocery lists
• Grocery shop within budgetary restraints of program

• Allocate tasks in the kitchen an assist youth to complete them
• Monitor tasks to ensure food safety standards are upheld
• Monitor storage of food to ensure food safety standards are upheld

Camp Director – Camp ArrowFlight

The Camp Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations, administration and leadership of Camp ArrowFlight. • Overall responsibility for the operation of a residential summer camp, retreat and environmental education centre

Job Duties:

Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs invites applications from qualified individuals for the positions of Afterschool Program Staff at our Webber Road Community Centre.

• Develop and implement programs and activities that are consistent with agency core values and core programming areas. Ensure that programs developed, engage members, address healthy positive child development and provides members with a sense of belonging.
• Supervision and safety of children 6 – 12 years old.
• Transporting children in Agency Vans to and from school and to various sites for recreational purposes
• Establish open communication with parents/caregivers
• Ensure that specific goals of children in programs are met

Qualifications:

Education and Knowledge
• A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children and youth
• First Aid Certificate.
Training and Experience
• Excellent leadership, communication and judgment skills
• Class 4 driver's license or willingness to obtain
Successful completion of Agency screening process, including criminal record check

Salary: $12.42- $12.94 dependant on class 4 driver’s license

Program Area Leader

The Program Area Leader will work as member of the Webber Road Club Leadership team and be responsible for the development, organization, implementation and evaluation of the After School Program at Peachland Elementary School.

• Ensures programs and activities offered are consistent with agency core values and core programming areas. Responsible for developing programs that engage members, address healthy positive child development and provides members with a sense of belonging.
• Responsible for the care, supervision and safety of children 6 – 12 years old.
• Provides supervision and leadership to program staff.
• Transporting children in Agency Vans from school to various sites for recreational purposes.
• Establish open communication with parents/care givers.
• Licensed Manager of program

Qualifications:

• A diploma or degree in recreation and/or experience planning and implementing recreation programs for children
• Current First Aid certificate

Training and Experience
• Excellent leadership, supervisory, communication and interpersonal skills
• Class 4 Driver License

Hours: 25 hours per week September - June

Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs is looking for Foster Parents in the South Okanagan Who:
• Can provide a stable home life for child and youth ages 5 – 18 who are experiencing difficulties
• Have an understanding or experience with children and/or youth with exceptional social & emotional needs
• Are able to work as part of a team, and attend training sessions
• Are self aware of their own capacity, values and beliefs yet are open minded
• Are able to be flexible, committed, non-judgmental, and empathetic
• Possess good problem solving, communication, record keeping, and observation skills

Qualifications:

To be successful the applicant must be willing to participate in or provide:
• An in-depth home study
• A medical examination report
• A driver's abstract + reliable vehicle + insurance
• Agency screening including a criminal record check
• First Aid/ CPR training

A team of a family counselors and 2 youth workers will provide the caregiver with daily support, education and training and the youth with ongoing recreation and life skills coaching. Competitive wage package and regular respite provided.
